1st Child - Eliza Caroline Burgess (1871-1910)

Eliza Caroline Burgess was born on 3rd April 1871 at Elicar Villa, Berkeley Road, Horfield, Bristol. By the spring of 1874 the Burgess family had moved to Hillborough House, 106 Egerton Road, Horfield, and by December 1875 were living at Latteridge, near Iron Acton, Gloucester where Eliza grew up. She was referred to as Carrie and became the 'black sheep' of the family when she went on stage as an actress. George Burgess didn't approve of that sort of thing, although there must have been reconciliation in later life as he writes very highly of his four daughters in his diary, and Carrie was buried in her father's grave.
