Just-a-Step-Beyond.jpg

JUST A STEP BEYOND.

Just a step beyond there’s a golden star,
And starry crowns that we all may wear,
A place where the white-browed angels are –
Just a step beyond.

We hear the roar of the surging sea,
We mark the waves sigh mournfully,
Yet our trusting hearts beat strong and free,
As we look beyond.

For we know that the pilot’s hand is firm,
That his eye is sure, he can rule the storm;
A moment’s space, and our feet are borne
Just a step beyond.

I would lay me down, on some pleasant eve,
With nought in my heart to fret or grieve,
And, ere morn could her rosy curtains weave,
I would pass beyond.

You must not weep when your child has passed
To a holy and beautiful home at last,
But rather rejoice that you’re drifting fast
To the world beyond.
