Let-us-be-Happy.jpg

O! LET US BE HAPPY.

O! let us be happy and joyful to-day,
Chase care from our brow and be glad while we may;
This world hath attractions and beauties most rare
Then why should we mourn and give way to despair?

Dost ask for its beauties? Go forth in the wood
And view there the gifts from the Giver of good;
From the towering oak and the pebbly brook
To the tinniest flower in its own shady nook.

Look above to the blue and ethereal sky.
Watch the light fleecy clouds as they roll gently by,
Gaze around you – there’s beauty wherever you go,
And much to cause joy as you journey below.

Think not of the Past – it is over and gone,
‘Twere vain o’er its trials and sorrows to mourn,
But look to the Present, perchance thou may’st see
The present and future have joys yet for thee.

Repine not, for God has shown mercy to thee,
Has said, as thy burden thy strength e’en shall be;
Then throw off the grief that enshroudeth thy heart,
And let sweet contentment its peace now impart.
